Arctic Flyers is owned and
operated by Heidi and her son Rick. They have been flying and instructing
for over 40 years.
In 1969, Heidi and her
husband, Hermann, decided to put their Alaskan aviation experience to good use,
opening their flight instruction school in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1981, they
were joined in the operation by their son Rick.
Sadly, Hermann passed away in March of 2009.
Since its inception, Arctic
Flyers has provided top-notch aviation instruction from its home base at
Anchorage International Airport, and the adjacent Lake Hood Seaplane base.

Heidi has been instructing
since 1966. She has more than 30,000 hours both as a CFI and as a commercial
pilot. Heidi provides float, tricycle gear, tail dragger and emergency
instruction. Heidi is an FAA flight examiner (private and commercial) and
is licensed to provide check rides for students seeking their private pilot
license.

Rick has been instructing
since 1981. He has more than 26,000 hours both as a CFI and as a commercial
pilot. Rick provides float, tricycle gear, tail dragger and emergency
instruction. Rick is also a commercial pilot who in the past has flown a
Citation Jet as well as a variety of turbo-prop, multi-engine and other aircraft. Rick also has an
A&P license and can provide biennial flight reviews with complete records
check on your aircraft.
