Education
Our classes are designed to cover all age groups mentally and
spiritually. All classes are Bible based. If it is not taught in
the Bible, it is not taught in class. The elders ensure that.
Teachers are “hand selected,” members who display a healthy
understanding and knowledge of the word. Teachers are expected
to set-the-example: (be on time, be prepared, active
participants in service(s), “lights in the community (or
on-the-job).” |
| 0 – 6 mos Old Class
Presently, there are no children of this age group in any of
the classes. The parents of this age group unanimously take
their child(ren) of this age to class with them. |
6 mos – 2 yrs Old Class
This is our most fragile age group. They are gently
introduced to the ‘Bible class setting’ , training them to sit
in a group setting for at least 10 – 15 minutes, teaching them
simple Bible songs (familiarizing with names and stories), and
parent/child separation. Most of the teaching is done through
song (with exaggerated/animated movement(s)/acting) –
introducing them to Bible themes and/or characters. |
3 yrs – 5 yrs Old Class
This age group is expected to be able to sit at least 20 – 30
min. Hand/eye coordination and dexterity are a little more
developed, allowing for ‘arts and crafts:’ (pasting, gluing,
drawing, etc). Songs are an intricate part of teaching. The
children are introduced (by stories/lessons) to Bible
characters, along with the “Bible books song(s)) Interpersonal
relationships are taught, i.e. : (no shoving, pushing, hitting,
etc, teaching to call-out to the teacher versus coming over to
him/her). This is the age group where classroom etiquette is
introduced. |
Kindergarten – 2nd
Grade Class
This age group understands ‘classroom etiquette.’ They are
expected to be able to sit for the duration of the class (if
necessary). Many of the children know how to read and write.
Writing is encouraged, whether it’s writing their names on their
papers or writing the name(s) of the character(s) being studied
in class. This age group is taught how and where to find the
books of the Bible. Arts and crafts projects are more demanding
(scissor use, putting puzzles together, building simple
structures, etc). Feedback is expected (question/answer). This
age group will most likely be able to summarize the lesson. |
3rd – 5th Grade
Class
This age group knows how to read, and it is expected of them.
Knowing where and how to find the books of the Bible is also
expected. Lesson themes are a little more in-depth, with more
emphasis being placed on personal behavior (and accepting
responsibility for it). This age group is highly encouraged to
share thoughts and feelings about class topics, lessons, and
encouraged to participate in class discussions. |
6th – 8th Grade Class
This age group is very familiar with classroom format. This
is the age group when “the Attitude” begins to come out.Their
independence is more developed, and the teacher(s) of this age
group are highly encouraged to recognize and understand this.
This age group hungers for ‘deeper lessons;’ therefore,
spiritual meaning of lessons is introduced. The reality of sin,
repentance, and baptism being needed for salvation is taught at
this level. “Bonding activities/events” are crucial. Male and
female relationships are touched-on, but Godly behavior is
emphasized. |
9th – 12th Grade
Class
This age group is often thought the most challenging, so our
more mature AND tolerant/patient adults are sought for this age
group. The need for baptism (along with the need to turn from
sin and turn to God) is taught more intensely. Students are
expected to take active parts in class discussions. Grooming for
adulthood (how to carry one’s self, becoming actively involved
in the body) roles of men and women, introduction to marriage
and roles of. The meaning of being “Christ like” is brought to
reality. Bonding activities are highly encouraged; this is the
age group has a higher percentage of losing interest in the
church. If ‘raised-in-the-church,’ this is often the age group
where baptism often occurs. (Even if not raised in the church,
peer pressure to be baptized and/or the attraction of having ALL
sinned ‘washed away’ is very strong.) |
Young Adult Class
Specifically designed for high school graduates, this age
group is “finding themselves,” so classes are tailored to deal
with issues prominent in this age group, i.e. (premarital sex,
employment, trusting in God, faith, shameful behavior,
commitment to God, etc). Men and women both are taught how they
can contribute during services. |
| Women’s Class
Designed to provide an arena where women discuss topics dear
to them, without male influence . |
| Adult Class
This class is for adults in general. The purpose is to openly
discuss Biblical lessons/topics in an adult arena.
