Bob got Trapper from his good friends, Jim and Sue Richardson, of Manhattan, Illinois. Jim was so impressed by Bob's dog Drake that he acquired his own black Lab pup, Otter.  Otter had several litters, the last of which included Trapper.  Of the yellow males in the litter Jim believed that Trapper was the best.  That proved to be the case!
