Orcas

Almost every trip we take we have the chance to see some Orcas. A lot of the time too they surprise us by showing up where we have stopped for a break. We never chase after them nor do we go looking for them. They just happen to end up coming by.

How close can you get to the killer whales you might ask? Probably closer then you would want to. This pod kind of surprised us as we were retuning home one day but they gave us a few good picture opportunities. They are amazing animals and as you can see we were not really wanting to be this close them. We moved over and let the pod go on by.

In Prince William Sound there are lots of islands. On the islands they are loaded with bear and it is very possible to be able to float up next to them. They like to walk on the beaches and they just sit there and stare at you while you drift op to them. Here are a couple of bear that we floated up on one day.

Other types of wildlife that we can find are like Sea lions, Seals, and Sea otters.

The Sound is home to all kinds of birds, We was lucky enough to be able to see this Bald Eagle sitting on a chunck of ice while we were checking out Blackstone Glacier. This picture was taken March 20, 2004.
