The Sterling PWC Page

I was hooked on personal watercraft after my friends the Kosik's rented a Polaris one weekend when they first started making them, I think that was the summer of 1993. All that I remember is that it had a pink seat and was a blast to ride. Some other friends , the Jones's , then bought one soon after that and had it at their cabin at Big Lake. I helped wear out their first one and had such a great time with it that I finally bought one the spring of 1997. It was too much fun! I went everywhere with it. One of the first rides was out of Seward in the ocean. Now I was defiantly hooked! But that was the summer that  UPS had the strike so I ended up selling it.

The next summer Cathey was with me and we decided to get two PWC's to be able to go play on. After breaking in the engines on a lake that the ice had just barely had time to melt off, we had our first real ride on the ocean. We went to Seward with a group of our friends and left the harbor and it started snowing on us. We got back to the harbor coated with snow and ice and waited several hours until it finally stopped. It snowed almost a foot! Then we went right back out, camped overnight in a forest service cabin and the next day went exploring. We had a great time as the sun had come out and it was beautiful with the fresh snow. We had a blast that weekend! Now I had Cathey hooked on riding the PWC's too!! That was mothers day weekend in 1998.

Since then we have explored much of south central Alaska by PWC. But I have to say that riding in the ocean is by far what we enjoy the most. We dress well for riding with drysuit, fleece and polypro long underwear. Gloves and wet suit booties are a must. We also carry survival gear and food and extra water with us along with all the required items that the State and Coast Guard require for boaters. We have three watercraft, two Polaris SLXH's and a Kawasaki 1100ZXi. All are 1998 models.

We ride with friends whenever possible, as it is more fun with a group and safer too. We also belong to the Personal Watercraft Club of Alaska and do many rides and projects with their members. We also belong to the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Go to the Coast Guard Auxiliary link for more about our doings with them. Below are some PWC links.....Enjoy! And WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET!!!!
