Meet the Juniors
Age: 15
Ht:
Category: Cat 4/Sport
Bio: I originally lived in Girdwood
Alaska until I was I think eight years old (it was seven or eight) so what
else do you do if you live in Girdwood besides ski, so I did. I loved skiing
and I still do but as of last winter '07 I no longer competively
race. Skiing is kind of what got me into biking. I did the mighty mite
program at Alyeska and then got into Mighty Bikes and decided I liked this
biking thing. Besides alpine skiing and biking I also xc run and ski for
South High. I love all the sports I do, and I try to work really hard all
the time, but I also like to have a lot of fun and I always do. My goals for
next year are to travel out of the state to race and to have maybe three
races in a row where nothing goes wrong.
Age: 13 Bio:
Macky is 13 yrs
old and has been racing mountain and road since he was 10. He is a 7th
grader at Central Middle School of Science where he wants to take
Aerodynamics and learn how to go faster! He loves being on the Kaladi
team and enjoys racing, training and going for long rides (or any rides)
with his family.

to a soccer injury he could not race this year but is hoping to be recovered
to race the Tour of Anchorage. In 2006 he won the Sport Division of the
Tour and in 2005 he won the Junior Division. His other sports in high
school include cross country running, tennis, cross country skiing and
soccer. In his spare time he works at REI, loves to camp, hike and kayak.
Age: 12
Bio: As a 12 year old 7th grader at Mirror Lake Middle School and part
of an active family, Alex has been offered many opportunities participate in
several sports at a relatively young age. Alex has completed the Fireweed 50
twice and is a three time Tour of Anchorage competitor. Alex's cycling goal
is to compete at the National level. When not riding his bike, Alex enjoys
X-C Skiing, playing his Alto Sax and spending time with his dog, Beckem.
Age: 15
Category: Cat 4/Expert
Bio: Born and raised in Alaska, Kinsey will be running and skiing for
CHS. Although she would consider X-C Skiing her main sport and attended JO's
last March in Utah, bike racing has become a close second, with podium
finishes at the 2007 Sea Otter in mountain biking. When not biking or skiing
you find her training with ANR or hiking with her dog Abbey.
Adam Miller
Age: 16
Category: Expert
Bio: I've lived in Alaska my whole life, and I love it here. I first
became interested in cycling after joining the Mighty Bikes program when I
was 12 years old. This year I jumped up to the expert class for both
mountain and road, and I'm having a lot of fun. I swim and ski for my high
school, and do nothing but bike during the summer. I work at Chain Reaction
Cycles and am lucky to have two awesome bosses who let me take time off to
race. My goals are to finish the Soggy Bottom 100 this year and to compete
in the 24 hours of Kincaid solo sometime. I would also like a podium
finish in the xc mountain bike race at the Sea Otter Classic in 2008.

Category: Cat 4/Sport
Bio: I first got into
mountain biking when I was around 8 years old and Mighty Bikes began. My
first road race however wasn't until the Fireweed in 2006, and I fell in
love with the sport. Dana, Jessie, Kinsey and I have won the women's 200
relay 2 years in a row now. The Sea Otter and all the other races this
summer were a lot of fun and I already can't wait for next season! Biking is
one of my favorite sports now, but my competitive focus has mainly been on
down-hill ski racing since I was 7. I also played flag football this year
for South High. Next year I hope to go back to Sea Otter Classic and also
race in the Expert category for our local road races.
Hannah Summers
