The nineteenth day of December in the eighth yeare of the Raigne of our Sovereigne Lord cgarles by the grace of God of England France and Ireland king defender of the Faith etc. And in the yeare of our Lord 1632, I Edward Marvyn of Ramsey in the County of Essex churgeon being sicke and weake in body but of sound mynd and prfect memory thankes be to Almighty God doe make and ordayne this my Last will and Testament in manner and forme following.First, I bequeath my soule into the hands of my mercifull God and faithfull [c...] [] [] the sole meritts of christ my Saviour and redeemer to obtayne everlasting salvation, And my body to the earth in assured hope of a blessed Resurrection at the Last day.And as concerning my worldly goods wch God of his goodness hath [line creased] I give to the poore of the prishe and Towne of Ramsey aforesayd twenty shillings to be distributed to them on the day of my buryal or wthin one moneth after.Item I give and bequeath unto my half brother John Marvyn [] ten shillings.Item I give unto my younger brother John Marvyn five shillings .Item I give unto my youngest brother Edmund Marvyn five shillings.Item I give and bequeath my loveing wife Bridgett Marvin my coppy-hold called [P....] with the appurtenances therto belonging now in the ocupation of william [Chase?]. Also my will is that my sayd wife Bridgett shall have and enjoy all other my goodes cattells and chattels and debts owing to me (my former legacies being prformed & funerall expenses discharged and my debts wch I owe being payed) during her naturall life towards her owne mayntenance and her bringing up of my daughter Bridgett Mervyn Provided that my sayd wife shall keepe her selfe a widdow and not marry, But if it happen my sayd wife to marry then my will is that my sayd wife shall have only twenty poundes of good and lawfull English money, and that the residue of my goods chattels & cattells shall remayne to my sayd daughter Bridgett and that my half brother John Marvyn shall have the same into his handes to imploy the same to the best advantage of her my sayd daughter till she shall come of the age of one and twenty yeares or be marryed wch shall happen first.And if my sayd wife duering the sayd [terme?] of the minority of my sayd daughter shall like best to have her bringing of her up (her being her childe) then my will is that my saydwife shall have the five poundes a yeare of lawfull English money allowed her out of the remaynder of my goods or daughters portion towards my sayd daughters brniging up during the tyme of my daughters abiding with her.Item if it shall happen my sayd wife to dye before my childe Bridget shall come of age then I will that my sayd coppyhold goods chattels and cattels shall [] [] remaynder to the sayd Bridgett my daughter and my said eldest brother John Mervyn shall have the bringing of her up.Item my will is that if my sayd daughter Bridgett shall decease befor my sayd wife Bridgett then that my sayd coppyhold and all other my goods cattells chattels and moneys due shall remayne solely and wholy to her my sayd wife Bridgett and at her despose.And I make and ordayne her my sayd wife Bridgett Mervyn sole executrix of this my Last will and Testament and hereunto I the sayd Edward Mervyn doe hereunto sett my hand an seale the day and yeare first herein written.
