Mountain Flying Course
The Mountain Flying Course is designed to teach operations in mountainous terrain
in general as well as in Southeast Alaska and includes a ground school
as well as actual flights. The book Mountain Flying, by Sparky
Imeson, is used and is available from Sporty's. The student will need
a passport because flights to Atlin, British Columbia are in the program,
as are landings at Snettisham.

Either the Cessna 172 or the Cessna 150 or a combination of the two can
be used for the course. About twenty hours of flight time will be required,
and four hours of ground instruction. Those desiring the use of the Cessna
150 should be tailwheel current or plan on taking the Tailwheel Transition
Course first. The same basic rates apply as for rental except that if
one pays for two ten hour blocks, one receives two hours more at no extra
charge.
