Doug Keil first knew his life made a difference when a young disabled athlete from Japan made a pilgrimage to Alaska just to meet him. The reason: Doug had won two Olympic gold medals in skiing for the U. S in the Second Winter Olympics for the Disabled in Geilo, Norway in 1980. The young man, believing his own life was over after a debilitating accident, had read about Doug's achievements and had found new hope. He wanted to meet his hero.

People have been finding new hope as a result of Doug Keil's work for years. Doug never thought himself a hero, but after being electrocuted at the age of 14 and undergoing years of surgery, rehabilitation and ultimately substance abuse, he found new purpose in life.

Doug has been telling his story, through actions, ever since. Now, he has begun telling his story to audiences around the country. He sometimes leaves them weeping. He always leaves them spellbound and motivated.
