UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA ANCHORAGE

December 12, 2000

To Whom It May Concern:

I am pleased to recommend Doug Keil as a speaker. As a NCAA institution, University of Alaska Anchorage is bound to offer educational issues to our student-athletes regarding drugs, alcohol and other related topics. We attempt to vary our presentations from year to year and decided that we wanted someone who could tell of their own experiences and life challenges. We approached Mr. Keil as a possible speaker. I was very impressed by his ability to articulate difficult topics, such as life as a double amputee, addictions and moving on with life. His presentation was done in a small lecture hall with no microphone. He projected well, but what was more interesting was the student-athletes' rapt attention. Mr. Keil is a captivating speaker. He has many stories and messages that would benefit an organization.

As a member of our community, Mr. Keil is known for his involvement in athletics and as a "mover and shaker" with Challenge Alaska and other civic-minded projects.

Please feel free to contact me at (907) 786-4803

Sincerely,

Dede M. Allen
Associate Director of Athletics
