Dear Doug:

I wanted to send you a note to thank you for all you do for United Way of Anchorage, Challenge Alaska, and the community. I know that you have already volunteered to speak to many different groups in this year's campaign, this in addition to speaking on our behalf over fifty times last year, and countless times in prior years. You are amazing.

Of course, you know what impact your story has. The Anchorage Visitors and Convention Bureau said that you alone were responsible for their best campaign ever last year. When you spoke at the AT&T kickoff, I witnessed the way you moved the group and their campaign more than doubled. Other groups have commented on how you brought them to tears, inspired them to do more, and how you have helped many of their individuals overcome personal hardship.

I know my comments could be perceived as biased, since we are friends, but I would gladly say the same things, even if we weren't. Thanks for all you have done. Thanks for what you continue to do. Thanks for helping the United Way build a better community.
