Homer Middle School
February 9, 1998
Dear Mr. Snell:
On behalf of the 8th grade students and staff I
would like to thank you for allowing Doug Keil to visit our school. Middle
schools are moving in the direction of interdisciplinary units, whereby a
theme is selected and then built into the regular curriculum. Doug was the
kick-off speaker for our first unit, Challenges. He did a great job. It is
not easy to present to middle school students. They seem to have a
critical eye and it is often hard to put something across to them. Through
his life stories Doug was able to challenge the students to look at life
in many different ways. He was frank and spoke from the heart. The
students were most impressed.
I know that one of the current education drives is
the bringing together of the schools with business. A fine example of this
is you allowing Doug to come to Homer. He is an outstanding representative
of your company.
Sincerely,
8th grade team
